Frequently Asked Questions: PM1236
1. I just hooked up my PM1236 Lathe and it won't start. What is wrong?
Most of our machines are equipped with several safety switches. First you will want to make sure
that the gear box is closed. Next, be sure that both your chuck guard and spindle guard is down. Lastly, check
to be sure that the emergency stop button is in the out position. Also, double check that the break peddle is all
the way up. Now try to start your machine, if it still will not turn on call us at 412-787-2876 so that we can help you
trouble shoot farther.
2. What type of oil should I use in the machine?
We suggest that you use Mobile DTE Heavy Medium Oil, ISO68 20 weight. You can also use a general purpose
tractor hydraulic oil or equivalent.
3. How much oil will I need, and where do I put it in at?
You will need approximately 3 gallons to fill the machine for its first use or for a complete change. There are
three places on the machine that need oil. The first area that you need to fill is the gear box. This will take the
bulk of the oil, slightly more than 2 gallons, there is a sight glass by the chuck. Next you need to fill the thread
feed gear box. To do this you will need to remove the fiber glass cover on the left side of the machine. Here
you will find an allen bolt that will need to be removed, you fill the thread box through this hole. This thread
gear box will take about 1 quart of oil. Next you will need to put oil in the apron. This takes approximately 16
ounces. With all oil fill points, fill them to the middle of the sight glass.
